The Wauchope Art Gallery and Business Hub showcases different exhibitions each month and is home to a range of business programs fostering the growth of our creative industries and other local businesses. An initiative of the Wauchope Chamber of Commerce, and supported by both State and Commonwealth bush fire recovery funding. The gallery creates an opportunity for artists to exhibit their work in a beautiful quality space and the opportunity for professional mentorship from artist and Curator Vivianne Hazenveld.
The PrussingArt Exhibition features a variety of works; local beach scenes in her distinct palette knife style, her popular life-size koala paintings, pieces from the Festival of Sydney’s Dung Well Flung Exhibition and her impressive Archibald entry of Birpai elder Uncle Bill.
With a love for large scale painting, Leanne first decided to share her art with the world at age four, covering an entire outside wall of her family home!
Having since graced the walls of various galleries including the Art Gallery of NSW, her work is well respected and much loved by collectors around the world.
A Port Macquarie local, Leanne has travelled extensively, creating and exhibiting works and came home to our shores when the pandemic hit.
“I cannot think of anything more important to make art about than saving the natural worldâ€
Leanne Prussing
With this keen passion for conservation, Leanne revelled in the opportunity to create 5 murals for the Wilderness Activity Centre in Port Macquarie. Collectors’ pieces in their own right, you can see the original works showing a variety of local endangered species.
A new way to get some of Leanne’s art into your everyday life is through her quality limited edition homewares such as insulated flasks featuring her wilderness scenes and beautifully printed cushions sewn right here in Port Macquarie.
As part of the month-long residency, Leanne will be painting another piece in her Koala series directly inside the gallery. Watch her work on this large scale painting in her signature Palette Knife technique.
Leanne can also help you create your own beautiful textured painting in her latest workshop where she will be sharing lots of her secret palette knife and splash techniques.
